Manage and implement process improvements for application, followup, and review processes.• Grow partnerships with research and clinical organization, including American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and American Society of Radiation of Oncologists (ASTRO), to support young investigators.• Develop innovative funding models and special projects to progress breast cancer research.

Lead BCRF’s $50-million, five-year investments in translational cancer research including: (i) the Investigator-Initiated Drug Research Program, (ii) Founder’s Fund for Metastasis Research, and (iii) Special Partnerships including the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium. BCRF is the largest nonprofit funder focused on breast cancer research in the world this year. BCRF is efficient with 90 cents of every dollar donated going towards our research programs and is the top-rated breast cancer charity in the US with an A+ rating from Charity Watch and four-out-of-four stars from Charity Navigator.

• Understanding development and progression of epilepsy resulting in 1 poster presentation, 1 invited oral presentation, 1 peer-reviewed publication (in review), and American Epilepsy Society Young Investigator Award.• Identified barriers to research, analyzed available tools and limitation, and developed novel methodology to answer scientific questions using primary cell culture and zebrafish models.• Established high throughput neurotoxicity screening methods using metabolic and microelectrode array assay

• Identified problem of DEXA scan not being recommended for women over 65, measured baseline data from clinic, analyzed and identified root causes of why physicians were not recommending scans, implemented process improvements, analyzed data after 2 months to determine if goals were met.

Dissertation Title: MicroRNA-302 as a Redox Sensitive Regulator of ARID4a and CCL5• Determined effects of oxidative stress on cancer and aging in cell culture models resulting in 3 peer-reviewed publications and multiple poster and oral presentations.• Repurposed reporter plasmid technology resulting in new method to assess microRNA biological effects in vitro.

• Highly competitive national research program for medical students.• Demonstrated radiation sensitive localization of RNA-binding protein HuR and radioresistance of SOD1-overexpressing cells resulting in 1 invited oral presentation and 1 peer-reviewed publication.

Learned immunofluorescence, siRNA-mediated knockdown, and other molecular biology techniques by studying RNA binding protein HuR in many different cell lines.

Used Matlab software in order to develop an algorithm for panoramic image stitching for Los Alamos National Laboratories.

Collected genetic samples from small mammals (voles) in Yellowstone National Park and compared to fossil samples collected in the same area to evaluate evolution of the species.
