At SLR, I currently occupy several roles, which include my role as a Senior ESG Consultant/Team Lead in our ESG Advisory practice as well as my role as the Regional Sustainability Lead for SLR in Canada. Each of these roles places significant emphasis on leadership, project management, and engagement (internal and external) and require technical proficiency, confidence, and initiative, as well as strong communication, strategic planning, and critical thinking abilities.In my role as a Senior ESG Consultant/Team Lead, I lead a team of staff within our larger ESG Advisory practice in Canada. I lead, manage, and oversee the development, implementation, and elaboration of fit-for-purpose ESG and sustainability strategies for clients operating in multiple sectors and industries. This includes, but is not limited to, completing materiality assessments (single and double), gap analyses, and benchmarking exercises; developing ESG-related goals and objectives, KPIs, and targets; developing corporate policies and standards; conducting carbon footprinting exercises; developing decarbonization plans and strategies; and formulating and augmenting ESG roadmaps and implementation plans. In my role as the Regional Sustainability Lead for SLR Canada, I lead two key elements: our community program and our sustainability journey towards SLR’s net-zero commitments in Canada. In this role, I collaborate with regional and local office leadership to define our priority areas for investment and oversee the allocation of funds; support our ongoing data collection, reporting efforts, and proactive steps and actions to meet our net-zero commitments by 2040; and promote our sustainability efforts both internally and externally. My role also includes engaging with the Canadian business to elevate our efforts through strategic planning, education, and outreach with our offices and staff to promote and implement our carbon reduction plans.

In my role as a Project Geoscientist, I executed, managed, and supported projects pertaining to the ESG & Sustainability and Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) practice areas. These projects included, but were not limited to: ESG due diligence risk-based evaluations; materiality analyses; gap assessments; benchmarking; stakeholder analyses; community and stakeholder engagement; client sustainability report development; physical climate risk screenings; environmental compliance reviews (e.g., air emissions, wastewater discharges, subject waste management, and other areas); and Phase I/One and Phase II/Two Environmental Site Assessments. I also supported external and internal marketing efforts and the development of marketing materials related to the ESG & Sustainability practice.

In my role as a Senior Consultant, I provided private sector, multi-industry clients with consulting services regarding environmental compliance and site contamination. In this role, I performed project management functions and organized and managed both field and office aspects of projects including Phase I/One ESAs, Phase II/Two ESAs, and matters pertaining to environmental compliance.

In my role as an Environmental Scientist, I provided public and private sector clients with consulting services regarding potential and actual on-site contamination of soil, sediment, groundwater, and/or surface water. In this role, I liaised with clients, subcontractors, and public and agency stakeholders; prepared proposals and tenders for both private and public sector clients; and organized and managed both field and office aspects of over 200 ESA projects. Managed projects ranged from small (<$10,000) to complex multi-phase investigations (>$100,000). I also completed peer reviews and third party reviews of environmental reports and supervised junior staff training on Phase I and II ESAs.

In my role as an Environmental Intern, I was involved in both field and office aspects of Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, and landfill monitoring programs. This role introduced me to environmental consulting and provided me with exposure to both field (i.e., multimedia sampling and elevation surveying) and office work (i.e., technical report writing, data compilation, data analysis, and presentation preparation).
