I am an anthropologist and archaeologist with a PhD from the University of Bristol and I have considerable experience of teaching both subjects, along with elements of heritage management, to A Level, undergraduate and postgraduate students. My own research is primarily concerned with the human experience of modern warfare with a particular focus on the role of the human senses. I am a member of the Durand Group and carry out regular fieldwork in France beneath the battlefields of the First World War. I have been widely published both academically and commercially and have my own website at www.conflictanthropology.com. I am currently developing a post-doctoral research project exploring the role of listening and sound during the two world wars.Away from academia, I have many years experience in media and publishing ranging from business development and advertising, to editing and writing, all at a senior level. My extensive skills and qualifications are fully transferable and my business and commercial experience compliment each other well. I have advised the BBC on its cross-platform coverage of the First World War centenary, have appeared in several international television documentaries and am currently working with the Department of Education to bring the First World War to the wider attention of students across the country.Specialties: Teaching, research, writing, editing, Ethnography and archaeological fieldwork.
