Worked at all levels from network protocols to the user interface. Products included SNMP management consoles and agents, LDAP Protocol server, and clients, and user interfaces in X/Motif and Java, RADIUS authentication server and SSL/TLS security and encryption. Wrote and performed training on products that I designed and built. Brought products from drawing board phase to existence, working on all stages of product development. Acted as a cross-cultural interface between US and French development teams. Technical liaison between NIST and Sun, responsible for the technical and political relationship, worked on POSIX IEEE1003.3 standard.

Key player in creation of one of the first internet service providers. Systems and network design. Procurement, installation, configuration of hardware and software. During this time period, internet service providers offered shell accounts and email. Systems were all running SunOS (Unix) and hooked up to banks of dial-in modems. User's files were spread across multiple disks with NFS. Digex was one of the first ISPs to offer private blade servers to customers by rack mounting Sun boards in a rack. Much of the work done at Digex is early precursor to cloud computing which is now ubiquitous today.

Responsible for architecture of the OSI testing lab and network design (TCP/IP, OSI, X.25), customer training, customer support, and product acceptance testing for COS's OSI protocol conformance testers, and debugging low level protocols.

Working remotely with Carl Gutekunst in California, we brought up the first commercial coast-to-coast link over a 6-channel fractional T-1 circuit. Uunet was bought by Worldcom which was in turn bought by MCI which bought Sprint, and later MCI was acquired by Verizion.
