Supervised a staff of roughly 25 consultants conducting business throughout US. ● Developed a “ground up” business plan for a subsidiary of AT&T to construct and launch a competitive cable operation in suburban Atlanta and metro New Orleans. Responsible for identifying and staffing personnel in all operational areas, overseeing approximately 100 employees. Transferred control of those businesses to AT&T after they became operational and were generating revenue-producing customers.● Became only “outside” participant in consortium of telephone companies and The Walt Disney Company to develop a national brand called “Americast” under which a new national cable service would be marketed. Directed primary consumer research, key development partner on innovative, interactive on-screen guide in conjunction with Cisco. Negotiated asset purchase agreement with AT&T for a subsidiary business in Los Angeles AT&T wanted removed from balance sheet. Retained AT&T as investor and funding source for negative cash flow business. One year later, negotiated a tax free purchase agreement with public telecommunications company that acquired the company for more than $300 million.

Conceived innovative media program employing broadcast TV and radio in major markets to promote cable subscriptions, reducing reliance on ineffective and intrusive direct sales, and breaking the embargo that had been in place on cable advertising. Negotiated and executed agreements with all major cable programmers including HBO, ESPN, Viacom, Turner/Time Warner, Discovery Networks, etc., for cable company serving over 1 million customers. Included all aspects of contracts including annual price increases, commitments of marketing support and cancellation provisions as well as agreements when the FCC authorized that broadcast networks were entitled to compensation for carriage. -
