I'm an entrepreneur, data scientist, and occasional angel investor. Most of what I've built and supported starts with the premise that good use of data yields better decisions and a better world.Early in my career, I was fortunate to be part of two great early startup teams at PayPal and LinkedIn. I designed and built much of PayPal's machine learning technology to detect fraud, and I led the data team at LinkedIn.I have founded four companies: Team Rankings, Circle of Moms, Bonafide, and Change Research. I continue to work with Team Rankings, and am CEO and Chair of the Board at Change Research. Circle of Moms was acquired in 2012, and Bonafide shut down in 2016.I'm interested in businesses/products that are consumer-facing, have a strong data component, and can have large positive effects on the world.I invest only occasionally. Sr. Fraud R&D ScientistPaypal Dec 2000 - Aug 2004San Jose, Ca, UsI was responsible for much of PayPal's back-end fraud modeling. I designed and coded random forest software to easily build predictive machine learning models to track down fraud.I believe that this was the first ever commercial implementation of random forests (the first version launched in 2001).Using my software, my colleages and I built 50+ statistical models to assess the risk of PayPal's users. The models were then implemented on the site's back end (by one of us and/or engineering) to find fraudulent transactions before money from them left the system.Collectively, these models saved PayPal many millions of dollars. -

Coached practice three times a week, and took team to Nationals and other matches.Much to the benefit of the team, I was succeeded by a far more accomplished coach: Mark Talbott, former world #1 player, and former national championship coach at Yale.Stanford is now one of the top women's college squash programs in the country. That's probably more in spite of my coaching than because of it! -
