As one of two founding engineers for the product I architected and built a browser based SaaS 911 dispatch system enabling patrol officers, dispatchers, and 911 call takers to collaborate in real time.Utilized event driven architecture with progressive web app (PWA) features to enable key functionality even in the fact of internet interruptions. Designed and wrote core microservice code, then spearheaded efforts in online and offline mapping (GIS), 911 telephony integration (ANI/ALI), search, and search integration with remote criminal justice information systems (CJIS, NLETS). These required architecting and implementing the strategy for integration of on-premise and in-vehicle resources.Key technologies utilized include event sourcing, IndexedDB browser persistence, Kafka, Protobuf, Kubernetes, and micro-services. Primary coding was in Java, TypeScript, and Go, with Ruby for devops and Elm for early UX prototypes. Also implemented devops infrastructure-on-demand in Azure to enable developer productivity, additional integration testing, and user testing.

Oversee all algorithmic projects in transition from inception in data science to production in engineering. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manualprocesses, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

I rebuilt the engineering team and implemented the Lean Startup Kanban software process, as well as a Quarterly OKR process. Together, we implemented integration tests, turned monthly releases into continuous deployment, converted to fully responsive and mobile first web development, launched multiple major new products, dramatically reduced page load times, increased traffic almost tenfold, and modernized a 400KLOC Rails codebase. Notable personal contributions included an integrated in-house AB testing framework with statistical power planning tools, an automated SEM system leveraging Bayesian and genetic algorithms, a web analytics data-warehouse, various hi-fidelity product prototypes for user testing, and key performance improvements. While I was at RepairPal, we increased revenue and customer count by over 20x.

In 2012, I consulted for startups in San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland, working with distributed systems, datawarehouses, ruby, rails, erlang, node.js, mongo, and other technologies.Prior to that, ClueMachine automated corporate forecasting using collective intelligence. Most corporate forecasts are infrequent, brittle, and opaque; ClueMachine addresses this by automating a collaborative estimation and modeling process, enabling executives to harness the wisdom of their crowd.As founder, I split my time between customer development and product development, conducting customer interviews and building out minimum viable products with ruby and javascript.

As VP Technology and then CTO for angel funded Company.com, I first almost singlehandedly migrated Matchpoint's technology to a new Company.com datacenter on a tight post acquisition deadline without any downtime. We then built the Company.com site, extending the Matchpoint business search, content management, and VOIP verification technology base in order to launch Company.com on schedule with a variety of new features including coupons, detailed product comparison, and questions & answers. Managed 7 US and 3 Vietnam team members with a healthy mix of playing and coaching.

Matchpoint was purchased by Company.com in 2009-04. Matchpoint is a business search and lead generation company with unique features to preserve consumer privacy while using VOIP to facilitate communication with a database of 14 million businesses.
