About Marc Charlier

Since 2023 I stopped (after 32 years) working at BCT. I started as a creative at Stichting Behoud Limburgs Erfgoed (Buro Zuid-Limburg). Our goal is to share our knowledge of the history in our region. Archeology, religion, coalmining and the ripuarian language are the main focus.Although I have been working for more than 32 years in one company, my jobs at BCT have been very divers. Each 3-5 years I have had a new challenge.After starting at BCT in november 1990 as after sales, I changed in 1996 to customer marketeer and in 2000 to product manager. In the start in 2000 I focused on 1 product; HotDocs documentmanagement. This softwaretool for documentmanagement aimed for secretaries. After a very succesfull introduction, we moved HotDocs in 2004 to our 'sistercompany' Pro/Future. I then started a broader product management in our company. Since the first of January 2007 my job title has become marketing manager and later manager corporate communications.In 2010 I switched to become a partner manager. In this job I am getting in contact with companies to convince them to adept our solutions in their product portfolio. I ensure the quality of service performance delivered by our vendor partners and our own organisation to meet the market needs. To reach these goals, I am responsible for the creation and control of KPI's. The right way to make our performance and the partners performance measurable. Each partner in our collaboration has a fair way to judge our co-operation.My speciality is networking and give presentations to (large) groups. My goal is to get BCT from a European player in the ECM market to a global player in the ECM market.Specialties: People always tell me I'm a good speaker in public. Of course ECM or Marketing, PR and Social Media would be my speciality, but I could also tell groups about winning my fight against cancer (in 1996, so more than 20 years ago).

    Woensdag 30 maart 2022 ben ik beëdigd als gekozen Gemeenteraadslid in onze Kerkraadse Raad. Nadat ik in 2017 binnen Lokaal Alternatief gestart ben campagneleider, werd ik in 2018 commissielid in de commissie Algemene Zaken en Middelen. Op 3 november 2021 ben ik - tussentijds - beëdigd. Deze benoeming had alles te maken met de vervanging van een van onze zittende Raadsleden, Jo Bok, die wegens ziekte zijn functie helaas niet meer kon invullen. Erg jammer voor hem, voor mij echter een mooie start om een half jaar voor de verkiezingen van 2022 daadwerkelijk als raadslid aan de slag te kunnen.

    Jo Piefer (oprichter, voorzitter van het eerste uur en inmiddels ere-voorzitter) startte enkele maanden geleden met het uitbreiden en 'verstevigen' van het bestuur van het Volkstoneel Kerkrade. Daarbij benaderde hij mij om zijn functie als voorzitter over te nemen. Om de wederwaardigheden binnen Het Volkstoneel te leren kennen, ben ik in december 2020 als penningmeester in het bestuur gestapt. Sinds de benoeming van Jo Piefer als ere-voorzitter dus nu als voorzitter van deze prachtige toneelclub.

    Als de kleinste garde ter wereld (2 leden en een ledenstop) maakt de KKS1898 al meer dan 111 jaar Kerkrade en wijde omgeving onveilig tussen 10 oktober en aswoensdag. Enkele jaren lang zelfs niet pas vanaf 11-11 omdat we bijna 11 jaar lang op 10-10 een talentenjacht voor nieuw en nog niet ontdekt carnavalstalent organiseerden in ons toenmalige verenigingslokaal Louis café in Kerkrade.In 2009 vierden wij het 11 jarig jubileum van onze kleine club in de - toen net gerenoveerde - Rodahal, waarna we in 2011 zelfs organisator en gastheer mochten zijn van het Euregionaal Gardentreffen. Buiten de vele honderden gardisten, wisten we maar liefst 12.500 bezoekers naar de optocht en de aansluitende optredens aan de Kerkraadse Markt te trekken.In 2019 kregen wij via de Federatie Euregionale Gardes wederom de mogelijkheid om het Euregionaal Gardentreffen in Kerkrade te organiseren. Het werd een doorslaand succes. Volgens politie opgaves waren ruim 20.000 bezoekers naar Kerkrade gekomen. Het zonovergoten centrum genoot van optredens op drie verschillende podia, de gardenoptocht én de vele gardisten die zich onder het publiek mengden. Geen kleine klus dus, maar een die we met dank aan het ingestelde organisatiecomité tot een zeer tevredenstellend resultaat wisten te brengen.

    In de Algemene Ledenvergadering van 10 juli ben ik gekozen als lijsttrekker voor Lokaal Alternatief voor de Gemeenteraadsverkiezingen van 2022. Een rol die ik met plezier heb aanvaard. Natuurlijk zal het in de afgelopen jaren gevoerde beleid van Lokaal Alternatief, waarbij samenwerken en meedenken centraal staan, niet veranderen. Drie zaken zullen mijn speciale aandacht krijgen. Ten eerste het terugbrengen van het oorspronkelijk gedachtengoed rondom VIE. De huidige coalitie ziet nog 'uitsluitend' een nieuw gebouw rondom gezondheid en bewegen, maar niet meer de diepere gedachte er achter. Daarnaast ben ik van mening dat wij als politiek ons veel sterker moeten maken voor armoedebestrijding en veiligheid in de wijken. Alle wijken, zodat het overal in Kerkrade 'goed wonen' is.Vanuit mijn maatschappelijke betrokkenheid ben ik sinds begin 2017 lid van de politieke partij Lokaal Alternatief Kerkrade. Een lokale partij zonder binding met een landelijke partij en met als belangrijkste doel om het leven, wonen en werken in Kerkrade zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Vanuit mijn Communicatie en PR achtergrond ben ik sinds september 2017 actief als campagneleider. Waarom een lokale partij? Lokaal kunnen de belangen van inwoners van gemeentes behoorlijk in conflict zijn met de koers die een landelijk georiënteerde partij wil varen. Als lokale, ongebonden partij hoeven wij geen verantwoording naar een hoofdbestuur, dat ver van onze gemeente staat, af te leggen. Lokaal raakt ons allemaal!Onze slogan voor de verkiezingen van: Lokaal Alternatief, ook uw alternatief?!Aansluitend aan de verkiezingen ben ik twee jaar als Burgerraadslid in de Commissie Algemene Zaken en Middelen actief geweest. Om de praktijkervaring met het Raads- en commissiewerk onder onze leden 'breder' te maken, heb ik mijn plek na die twee jaar aan een collega overgedragen.

    A project for just a couple of months.After six weeks of planning and writing a marketdevelopmentplan, the BCT board decided to enter the Small and Medium Business market in Germany with our user-friendly, cloudbased solution Elemenz directly over a webshop. Besides my job as a partner manager, in this projectteam I am responsible for PR and communication. Very nice challenge, letting Germany know the best and most easy-to-use solution for digital working and archiving is Elemenz. Of course is Elemenz developed by our own R&D department at BCT and did the User Interface collegaes a great job! We went live during the 'Best in Cloud' Event om October the 23rd. At this event we were nominated 'Best in Cloud Solution'. Out of 30 competitors, we became 4th pricewinner. For November 2013 we are nominated 'Product of the Month'. At 25.11 we scored 81% of the votes ;-)

    After retourning as a member at Golfclub Hoog Vaals, I was elected boardmember. In the boardmeeting of the 15th of July 2013 the board positions where assigned. My position was twofold; deputy secretary and webmaster (of course :-) ). Besides I participated in projects finding new clubmembers. One of the most important and successful projects was the project 'youth members'. Through various activities the club gained, in one year, 12 new active youth members.At the annual meeting in March 2015, I finished my board tasks because they were difficult to combine with my work and other sports activities (running a half marathon)
