I am currently engaged in a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship role at UNSW and the ARC Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy, where my team and I help academia, industry and government make informed decisions to progress the emerging Power to X sector (P2X). Working on developing techno-economic models to establish the feasibility of hydrogen production in Australia. The research looks at the current commercial technologies which include fossil fuel-based processes like steam methane reforming and coal gasification as well as emerging technologies like electrolysis. The aim is to establish the levelized cost of producing hydrogen ($/kg) from each of these technologies to determine whether hydrogen production is competitive within the current business environment. The findings from the work aim to improve on understanding the underlying costs, policies and infrastructural requirements of a sustainable and economic large scale hydrogen economy
