Deep Orange 11 is Clemson University’s vehicle prototype program focusing on sustainability.• Successfully developed an affordable, community-based, and sustainable-by-design mobility solution for the smart city of Greenville in 2035, experiencing a complete automotive product development cycle from concept to production.• Conceived and translated system level requirements and objectives to subsystem level targets via executing top-down systems approach.• Partnered with design studio professionals in designing (in Siemens NX) 50+ modular and replaceable interior and exterior panels as well as conducted DFMEA and PFMEA checks for their assembly/disassembly. • Optimized the 3D space for the ridesharing and delivery modes of the vehicle by efficiently integrating subsystem components. • Achieved 40% light-weighting by designing a novel steel-node and CFRP-tube frame while attaining the stiffness requirements of the vehicle. • Optimized BIW (Body in White) structure design via multiple CAE loops (HyperWorks), and validated build by comparing 3D scanned data with CAD. • Designed, and vacuum infused battery tub using recycled carbon fiber using flame retardant epoxy resin to house 312 Battery cells.• Streamlined the production operations by formulating detailed engineering drawings for part manufacturing and procurements.

ZF Chassis Systems is a Tier 1 part supplier to BMW for suspension and axles.• Performed Root Cause Analysis to identify and eliminate sources of incorrect rear-axle assembly (bypass) via analyzing four months of assembly data using Six Sigma tools (Process Maps, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and PFMEA) and statistics.• Calculated a cost of reduction of $150 per axle bypass avoided and presented recommendations to ZF Chassis Systems.• Completed Lean Sigma Green Belt Certification as a part of this project.
