Currently, I am working as an Economic Data Scientist for the Government of Alberta, where I aim to apply advanced modelling and statistical techniques to the analysis of the current economy, as well as predicting possible future directions. I'm primarily focused on analyzing and modelling emergent economies and investment opportunities, and production of public information products.In 2016, I completed my PhD in Computational Biophysics in which I studied complex disordered proteins and their statistical structural relationship to determine possible druggable regions. This required extensive use of statistical modelling tools and methodologies, while becoming proficient in programming in several languages.Current at-home projects include algorithmic trading and investing and reinforcement learning as applied to robot investors. Perform data collection and munging for provincial and municipal economic indicators to determine provincial economic health, as well as performing advanced analytical models to determine potential emerging economies and associated products. Primarily focus on determination of economic diversification using statistical and machine learning methods such as linear and non-linear regression methods (Linear/Logistic regression, Random Forests, Neural Networks in Keras), dimensionality reduction techniques (PCA, LDA, t-SNE etc), clustering (eg. kNN, hierarchical clustering)Secondarily focused on the development and dissemination of information products for the public, which has aided in developing skills using several prominent visualization tools such as amcharts, highcharts, D3, and ggplot, as well as front-end development.

My work here involved the design and implementation of predictive algorithms for environmental sensor data. This involves the use of various methodologies in the Extraction-Transformation-Loading (ETL) of raw sensor data. This data is then analyzed via Topological Data Analysis techniques, and predictive models are constructed using various machine learning methods including Random Forest, Time-Series, Regression, and Classification.I'm also performing further research on the use of topological techniques in supervised prediction algorithms, and the incorporation of advanced machine learning with these techniques in order to better analyze and predict future trends.

This allowed me to determine regions of apparent structural importance in the process of aggregation in Parkinson's Disease.I also performed graph/network analysis on metabolic networks associated with neurodegenerative diseases to determine correlations between network complexity and disease mortality.In my time at the University of Alberta, I also completed coursework in Bioinformatics, Computational Physics, Chemical Kinetics, Mathematical Biology, and Statistics. Each course consisted of projects requiring the development of a number of various programming and analytical skills. These include regression, classification, and prediction using advanced statistical and machine learning methods.

In order to better serve the community, we provided outreach sessions at local high schools to ensure the breadth of reach of the program. We also organized several charity events to better aid the community, and to promote our services within the community, including Rubber Duck Races and a golf tournaments. Both of which were very successful in raising money for local wilderness sanctuaries.
