Perform data collection and munging for provincial and municipal economic indicators to determine provincial economic health, as well as performing advanced analytical models to determine potential emerging economies and associated products. Primarily focus on determination of economic diversification using statistical and machine learning methods such as linear and non-linear regression methods (Linear/Logistic regression, Random Forests, Neural Networks in Keras), dimensionality reduction techniques (PCA, LDA, t-SNE etc), clustering (eg. kNN, hierarchical clustering)Secondarily focused on the development and dissemination of information products for the public, which has aided in developing skills using several prominent visualization tools such as amcharts, highcharts, D3, and ggplot, as well as front-end development.

My work here involved the design and implementation of predictive algorithms for environmental sensor data. This involves the use of various methodologies in the Extraction-Transformation-Loading (ETL) of raw sensor data. This data is then analyzed via Topological Data Analysis techniques, and predictive models are constructed using various machine learning methods including Random Forest, Time-Series, Regression, and Classification.I'm also performing further research on the use of topological techniques in supervised prediction algorithms, and the incorporation of advanced machine learning with these techniques in order to better analyze and predict future trends.

In my role as research assistant, I've performed advanced statistical analysis, and produced large scale datasets consisting of structures of alpha-synuclein. This allowed me to determine regions of apparent structural importance in the process of aggregation in Parkinson's Disease.I also performed graph/network analysis on metabolic networks associated with neurodegenerative diseases to determine correlations between network complexity and disease mortality.In my time at the University of Alberta, I also completed coursework in Bioinformatics, Computational Physics, Chemical Kinetics, Mathematical Biology, and Statistics. Each course consisted of projects requiring the development of a number of various programming and analytical skills. These include regression, classification, and prediction using advanced statistical and machine learning methods.

As a teaching assistant, I provided tutorial and lab support for engineering and physics students, from 1st year electromagnetism to third/fourth year quantum mechanics and circuit design courses. My major responsibilities were :- Be prepared for any possible question students may have regarding topics covered in the course.- Maintain a healthy learning environment for students.- Organization of tutorial and laboratory sessions.

At McMaster University, my primary responsibilities were towards the analysis and design and multi-degree of freedom cantilever systems to study the surface properties of small polymer systems and single cell biological systems. This involved the collection of data using LabView, as well as statistical and image analysis of data through Matlab/Octave.As part of my time here, I also completed graduate level coursework in Adv. Statistical Mechanics, Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Polymer Physics, and Computational Biophysics using Java, and Fortran.

As a Research Assistant at Memorial University, my work was multifaceted, and multidisciplinary.My primary concern was on the development of microcantilever physical biosensors for the detection of Influenza A. As our lab was net yet prepared for analysis and handling of biological samples, this required extensive preparation of the lab for future work. My primary research consisted in the analysis of viral properties of our samples, as well sputter deposition and surface characterization of our microcantilevers using scanning tunneling microscopy, and various surface chemistry techniques.This work was then outlined for future projects to help speed the development process.

In my capacity as head of security, my main responsibility was to provide organization and safety for patrons of the student union run bar (The Breezeway) on the Memorial University campus. The Breezeway has a capacity of approximately 1000 people, making the organization of staff a key component in properly being able to administer aid/services where needed, as well as maintaining a safe and friendly atmosphere for bar patrons.

As a member of the Youth Services division of Service Canada my primary responsibilites involved introducing youth and young adults to the skills needed to enter the workforce. These included several key aspects such as resume and cover letter writing, as well as generally skills development and information sessions for regional youth. In order to better serve the community, we provided outreach sessions at local high schools to ensure the breadth of reach of the program. We also organized several charity events to better aid the community, and to promote our services within the community, including Rubber Duck Races and a golf tournaments. Both of which were very successful in raising money for local wilderness sanctuaries.
