Michael is a Senior Cultural Resources Specialist at Burns & McDonnell, a leading engineering, construction, and environmental consulting firm. He has over 15 years of experience in conducting and managing cultural resources investigations for various projects across the U.S., in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other federal, state, and local regulations.As a Principal Investigator, Michael is responsible for conducting background research, field surveys and testing, data collection and analysis, various GIS analyses, and producing reports in support of permitting efforts. He has an extensive supervisory and technical background in archaeological field and laboratory processes for both historic and pre-contact artifact assemblages. He has experience working with diverse stakeholders, including federal and state agencies, Native American tribes, clients, and contractors. His research interests include site formation processes and geomorphology, and he has conducted archaeological research and fieldwork in the U.S. Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Rocky Mountain, West Coast, South, and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as Central America. He holds an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine. He is proficient in report writing, field work, and tribal consultation.
