My name is Mia Robles. I am a recent graduate from California State University, San Bernardino in biological psychology. I spent four years in college preparing to work in the medical field. I was the president of the American Medical Association local chapter and working in an emergency room as a medical scribe. Once employed at the YMCA as an after school teacher, I recognized my passion lied in teaching and children. I spent three years at the YMCA, and even started the MUN (Model United Nations) club into San Bernardino County for local youth of low socioeconomic status. Seeing children light up when involving themselves in academic extracirriculars and teaching them about speech and debate was the motivation to change my direction and go into education. I started to subsitute teach, getting experience in the classroom when I was introduced to the Intern credential route. I am now a PIP emergency credentialed 3rd grade teacher in HUSD, and working on my preliminary credential at National University. Coming from a psychology and medical (neuroscience) background, I will use my passion of psychology and implement it into the classroom via SEL.
