At Afrokaans I worked as a production coordinator for several TV shows produced for VIA Channel (an Afrikaans reality and lifestyle channel on DStv). The shows include "Raai wat is toegedraai", "Flori en Koelsoem se kosse" and "Plaaskombuis met Landbouweekblad."My role includes liaising with presenters and participants, managing production logistics, input and feedback on content production.

At Okuhle Media I worked as a researcher/assistant director for several TV shows produced for VIA Channel (an Afrikaans reality and lifestyle channel on DStv). These shows include "Stylstryd", "Hou op wegsteek" and "Spieëltjie Spieëltjie".My role included liaising with contestants, script writing, assisting with content production and as on set assistant to the director.

As content producer and director for UCT TV I work with both UCT and external clients in the production of promotional and educational films. This includes conceptualising film structures, scriptwriting, managing cast and crew, formulating budgets and facilitating post-production.

Writer, director and producer of "Man Up!", a 29-minute documentary short film.Synopsis - South Africa is a violent country with some of the highest levels of gender-based violence in the world. Men are the primary perpetrators of such violence. Man Up! offers a critical look at manhood in South Africa by unpacking the realities of men’s life experiences in order to make sense of their violence. The film follows the stories of Sikhangele Mabulu and Monwabisi Mbetane as they reflect on their childhood socialisation that made violence an acceptable form of male expression.Man Up! suggests that it is the narrow constructions of masculinity that make seemingly powerless men resort to violence as a means of asserting their manhood. Through the work of the NGO Sonke Gender Justice, the film looks at the powerful role men can play in bringing about change within their homes and communities to lead more gender equitable and fulfilling lives.

"The White Folks" is a mock-reality web series created by myself and Lisa Lane Drennan. Set in South Africa, it follow the lives of two families from Plattekloof in Cape Town, a suburban utopia with security gates, 4x4s and mundane life problems.By making use of exaggerated stereotypes, the web series aims to poke fun at so-called "problems" of the upwardly mobile, affluent and self-involved middle-class folk of South Africa.The cast of “The White Folks” includes some top local actors and comedians including Schalk Bezuidenhout, Pierre Malherbe, Leon Clingman and Roeline Daneel.

I completed my MA in film and media studies at UCT. As part of the course, I produced a documentary film on gender-based violence in South Africa with specific focus on masculinities and problematic gender dynamics between men and women. I also completed courses in Documentary Filmmaking, Photography, Environmental Documentary, Research Methodologies and Screenwriting.During my MA studies I also spent a semester abroad at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) taking courses at both their School for Film and Television and African Studies Institute. I also spent ten months on a research exchange at the Freie Universität Berlin as part of the Erasmus Mundus international programme.

I supervised and facilitated the Stepping Stone Outreach initiative that trains both UCT film students and trainees from previously disadvantaged communities in practical film production. Our end product was a promotional video for the department of forensic medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences at UCT.Other UCT TV projects include a short promotional film for Cape Town-based education NGO, Numeric.

I have always loved the ocean and the romantic notion of living at sea. So, despite my insufferable tendency for sea sickness, I spent a year aboard a yacht cruising the waters of the Caribbean, Florida and the Mediterranean.

I was intern to Hazel Friedman, an award-winning journalist and senior producer for SABC 3's actuality programme, "Special Assignment".

While working with this NGO based in Pollsmoor Prison in Cape Town, I assisted in training offenders in television production and helped conceptualise new film projects.
