About Mia Ferm

Devoted to supporting non-commercial moving-image, I am a curator, researcher, artist, and video archivist living in the Pacific Northwest. As the co-director of the collective Cinema Project since 2011, I have coordinated dozens of film and video screenings and public events. As a moving-image archivist, I specialize in analog formats. Currently, I am the Media Archivist at Oregon Public Broadcasting and previously oversaw the preservation of the Historic Media Collection at the Seattle Art Museum.

As part of these efforts, I have also investigated the functionality of the organization's video transfer station with an eye for practical and sustainable improvements to both workflow and the equipment chain in order to increase longevity, functionality, and quality of the digitized videos where possible. Additionally, I am conducting ongoing research into the early history of Portland's robust public access television community and programs. Show less
