Public Affairs Specialist
CurrentI plan, develop, organize, and coordinate segments of public affairs activities, including outreach strategies, designed to disseminate information about U.S. foreign policy to targeted domestic public constituencies. Specifically, I solely handle the Foreign Policy Classroom program portfolio, which informs high school and college students about the Department of State’s mission, policy priorities, diplomacy accomplishments, and structure.Additionally, I design and develop assigned segments of communication plans and outreach activities to meet information needs of targeted audiences.I participate in planning and organizing conferences, meetings, and briefings to provide representatives of domestic public organizations with the opportunity to engage in dialogue with senior foreign policy officials.I also Identify and develop opportunities to enhance awareness and understanding of foreign policy and to publicize the domestic public affairs activities and events sponsored by the Bureau.Finally, I monitor the effectiveness of such activities in promoting awareness of U.S. foreign policy, identifies items of policy importance.
