My name is Mohammad Miah. I am currently studying physics at the Technical University of Munich, majoring in Applied and Engineering Physics (AEP). I am also working as a software developer at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Both my studies in physics and my work as a student trainee at TUM and IPP constantly presented me with new challenges that required solving complicated problems efficiently through analytical thinking. These included solving complex mathematical and physical problems or projects with a clear practical application, such as the design of a detector in my bachelor thesis.In addition to my studies, I am a tutor for students. Here I help students from educationally disadvantaged and low-income families to achieve their academic goals. They are often behaviourally challenged, which often requires me to be a good communicator and team player.I was able to gain my first experience in programming with Python at the beginning of my studies through various research internships. As part of my bachelor's thesis I was able to apply and further develop my programming skills. Here, I was also able to gain my first experience in modelling simulations. Using the Geant4 toolkit, I was able to create particle-simulations. I then analysed these efficiently using Python. I was also able to apply and refine my Python knowledge in further research internships and in lectures on Machine Learning and Computer Vision early on in my Master's degree. To apply my acquired knowledge, I started a working student job at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasmaphysics (IPP) last year. Here I am working on a Python-code that tries to recognise and track particles in videos using a deep learning model, where I have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with deep-learning framework such as PyTorch.
