About Mia Kaplan, Aia
Mia is a licensed architect with experience in government, commercial, workplace, retail, and residential design who meets the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications for Historic Architecture and Architectural History. Though her passion is for historic places, she is experienced in new construction and especially knowledgeable about building codes when combining old and new.Hailing from Southeast Louisiana, her work represents an ongoing fascination with layering natural, architectural, and cultural heritage. Prior to becoming an architect, she earned a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking from the Memphis College of Art, and worked as a gallery director who oversaw the curation and marketing of the 20+ artists she represented from 2006-2009 while maintaining her personal studio practice. Her work as an artist and curator has been exhibited regionally in southern museums and public places, and has been included in a variety of national publications and media.
