• Led Quartz’s product and brand marketing efforts as it grew 10X in revenue and employees• Led market validation, product story, and go-to-market for all of our products, such as Quartz's first app, which was one of Apple's 10 best apps of the year• Oversaw user growth and community, including successful initiatives to drive down average CAC, improve conversion by 5X, and cultivate power users (the “Quartzerati”)• Ran sales enablement, powering our sales team to buck anemic industry trends via superior tools and process improvements• Owned the brand narrative and its various adaptations, including high-level, general-awareness formats (blog posts, case studies, PR) and micro, action-oriented formats (email marketing, social media, product branding)• Drove initiatives to scale organizational cadence as the company grew from 20 to 250+, including establishing company values; creating an annual staff survey; Quartz U, an internal education initiative; architecting quarterly all-hands meetings and team offsites; and, on one quiet weekend, starting an informal photo blog which became an important recruitment tool

• HelloWallet was a fintech startup born out of a white paper that I coauthored at Brookings; we were acquired by Morningstar.• Led a cross-functional team to identify areas for product improvement, including conducting user research, prioritizing features, writing product requirements, and liaising with senior management to ensure alignment• Led go-to-market and worked with partnerships team to produce and deliver product demos and related materials• Grew company from two to 50+ people; made a ton of mistakes along the way

• Was the junior member of a two-person team driving Brookings’ initiative on underserved consumer markets• Produced research on untapped opportunities in various consumer markets, directly informing the economic mobility initiatives of incoming President Obama as well as 60 US cities and 12 states; sparking hundreds of stories in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and others; and inspiring the creation of a social enterprise course at Stanford• Handled all data and analysis gruntwork, but also co-authored reports, represented Brookings in the press, and presented to external stakeholders
