As a recent graduate of the University of Essex with a BS in Genetics, I have a strong passion for the biology of ageing and data science. I am fascinated by how our everyday actions and decisions can affect our longevity, and how gene expression can be modulated by our environment. In my final year research project, I developed biosensors that can track the highly oxidising environment of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lumen, a major switch point in cell signalling, using genetic engineering technology. This project enabled me to gain valuable laboratory skills and an in-depth understanding of the field of synthetic biology. I would like to pursue a career in science, where I can apply my knowledge and skills in genetics and data science to address important challenges and questions in the field.
