I lead a mighty team of women lawyers fighting to free people sentenced to life in prison for drugs and to end the policies that put them there. As a lawyer, I represent clients – more than 300 to date – accused of federal crimes at every stage of the process, from investigation to trial, sentencing, and appeal, including the U.S. Supreme Court and presidential clemency. I am a policy consultant and crisis manager for complex litigation and legislative matters. I have led a number of viral national justice campaigns and won freedom for over 40 life-sentenced nonviolent drug offenders. Notably, I convinced President Obama to free six of my clients. I have a sustained national media presence. My work has been featured in the New York Times, MSNBC, Time Magazine, Essence Magazine, The Hill, Chicago Tribune, Amazon’s Audible series, and CNN.The American Constitution Society named me a “Legal Legend” in 2019.
