Mia Tootill, Lcsw, Cmt-P, Cimhp Email and Phone Number
I am an integrative psychotherapist and polyvagal theory trainer and consultant, based in Westchester, NY. I work with adults across the lifespan, with particular specialties in college/graduate students, Millenial/Gen Z women’s health, Highly Sensitive People, and people in the healing professions. I completed my MSW at New York University and my 200-hour mindfulness meditation teacher training at The Interdependence Project, a multi-lineage, secular Buddhist center in NYC. Following 15+ years of personal study in functional medicine, I became a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional and am currently enrolled in an advanced course and supervision with Dr. Leslie Korn. I also recently began a herbalism apprenticeship with Robin Rose Bennett. Prior to my career switch, I obtained my PhD in Musicology from Cornell University and have over a decade of experience working in Higher Education. My winding path from performance to academia to psychotherapy means that I have a creative approach and enjoy being challenged to think outside of the box! I currently provide individual psychotherapy at the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute. My approach is eclectic and strengths-based, primarily informed by polyvagal theory and integrative medicine, and also drawing upon my training in trauma-sensitive mindfulness and relational therapies (AEDP). I use the Safe and Sound Protocol, an auditory intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, with my clients when appropriate, and am undergoing further study in sound healing. My other interests include herbalism and the evolutionary astrology. In addition to my clinical work, I enjoy providing polyvagal consultations to other providers and recently co-taught Deb Dana's Foundations of Polyvagal Informed Practice course. For more information, check out miatootill.com
