As Production Manager, I was responsible for procurement, costing, production planning, work orders, quality control and dispatch. Industrial Sales ManagerPremier Foods (Pty) Ltd Mar 1998 - Jun 2010Johannesburgh, South AfricaThe Industrial Channel in Premier Foods is home to the largest Customer base within Premier Foods. I was personally responsible for 1/4 of the company profit which was R75mil, working with a team of 4 employees. The retail channel within Premier Foods has more than 3000 staff members that are responsible for half of the profits, which is an indication of the importance of the Industrial Channel. The industrial Channel services multinational companies that include but are not limited to the likes of Kellogg’s, Cadbury and Nestle. At the time I was approached to take up the position, our single largest customer had given Premier Foods notice. Within six months I had not only turned the customer back to Premier Foods but had him sign a 2-year contract with us. Furthermore, I increased the margins of the Industrial channel by 25% in the first year and over 40% in the second year. As a result of this, I was offered shares in the company. I was then tasked with the responsibility of training the sales team. My desire was to ensure each individual played on their strengths and together teams would dominate. I focused on the the sales cycle from the art of prospecting to customer retention. By building a durable, engaged workforce we were able to minimise employee dissatisfaction and increase not only productivity but increase profitability.
