When I was about ten years old, I attended a two-week overnight farm camp. It was one of the most impactful early adventures of my life-- cleaning chicken coops and horse hooves while immersing myself in the smells and energy of the farm gave me an appreciation working closely with animals while being connected to the land. That experience inspired me to create a hobby farm years later in the backyard of my Los Angeles home. There are sheep, goats, ducks, and chickens, and it's a place I go to find solace and connection.My hobby farm is a simple reminder that, without humans and animals kicking around in the dirt, there'd be nothing for technology to support. I love that sense of perspective— the delicate balance between the efficiency technical creations can facilitate, and the aspects of life they touch and impact downstream. This same sense of balance and thoughtful appreciation of connection is at the very core of my professional approach.I've been a digital design professional (with a specialty in e-commerce) for twelve years. I've worked on projects in multiple industries, across organizational hierarchies, and through complex requirements. Whether thoughtfully interpreting stakeholder goals, designing an intuitive interface pattern, or tapping a unique under-utilized strength in a team member– I bring a balanced perspective to every relationship and challenge I face. I use my understanding of interconnection to facilitate positive and efficient creative processes and deliver intuitive, compelling, and holistically thoughtful design solutions. Interestingly enough, I find that simplicity and balance are at the center of any great design. My hobby farm reminds me of that daily.
