Managing Americorps forestry crews for Larimer County Conservation Corps on projects including fire mitigation, habitat restoration, mechanical thinning, prescribed burns, watershed conservation, trail building and maintenance.

Managing conservation crews across the state of Colorado. Projects were entirely in back country wilderness zones on United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands.Their scope included building new trails, restoring established trails, logging and clearing, constructing rock structures, collecting data, compiling and producing reports. My position also includes inspections and maintenance of company vehicles and tools, working with agency land managers, scheduling and creating work plans.

Managing multiple crews across the state of Oregon on habitat restoration projects. These projects included state, federal, and private wetlands, rangeland, and Forests. I supervised crew members employing fire, chemical, and mechanical thinning tactics. Using the application of hand pulling, spraying, brush and chainsaw work for invasive species removal. We also planted trees and other native species for local habitat restoration projects. We worked in marshes using canoes and wilderness areas using crosscut saws. I met with agency land managers and created work orders and schedules as well as supervising workers.

Own and operate a general contracting company providing high end custom craftsmanship. Meeting with clients, writing estimates and contracts, creating building plans, and completing work orders. I personally manage projects from conception to finalization. This includes: sales, budgeting, customer service, ordering materials, hiring, training, and supervising employees, physical and skilled labor.

Managing a team of AmeriCorps volunteers collecting fire fuels information and vegetation data in the Dixie and Fishlake National Forests. Working directly with the Cedar City Forest Service fire ecologist to report on post prescribed burn areas and pretreatment areas in need of management practices. Data includes: 0, 10, 100, and 1000 hour fuels, tree species identification, defoliation, canopy cover, duff and litter depth, and shrub cover and identification. Management of team includes: travel and logistics, housing, transportation, certifications, time and hours of service, completion of projects, output reporting, budgeting, public communications and service outreach.

Currently collecting field data for Acacia Koa restoration and nursery research. Spatial and temporal data analysis of affected Koa trees on the Big Island of Hawaii. Considerations include Koa moth, wilt, lichens, and invasive insects on irregular stem sprouting, defoliation, and dead or dying Koa trees within scarification plots established 25 years ago.
