As the Senior Campaign Lead for Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, I am organizing workers at Delta, one of the world’s largest airlines and the last major airline to remain largely non-union. I work daily to help workers address on the job issues, recruit and train union activists, and implement strategy to meet our objectives to build union power at Delta. Formerly, I served as the Chief of Staff for Councilman Antonio Lewis at the Atlanta City Council. While there, I had the opportunity to advocate for needed resources for working class and impoverished communities on Atlanta’s Southside.As an Organizer for AFSCME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees), the nations most powerful public sector union, I helped workers build power at the job and in their communities. Through intensive trainings, leadership targeting and development, political engagement, and direct action on campaigns in 9 states and over 30 cities, I helped impact the lives of thousands of workers across the US with a team of dedicated activists and organizers. This can be measured in successfully bargained union contracts, enhanced safety protections, millions in wage and benefits increases, concrete pro-worker legislation, and many well trained leaders that are now actively using their collective power.My journey in advocacy and organizing began while studying Political Science at MTSU. While there, I minored in Business Law and African American Studies adding an important framework to my community activism background. I organized social justice town halls on issues like mass incarceration and voter ID legislation, voter registration drives, and co-founded the MTSU Black Student Union which continues to provide students with resources to help them progress academically. In addition to my passion for workers rights, I also served as the Executive Director of Organize To Mobilize, an organization dedicated to helping communities of color tackle issues that plague them most by building their capacity to organize others and mobilize around concrete solutions.While serving on the Executive Board of Young Democrats of Atlanta, I was able to guide the organization’s efforts to recruit more minorities and address issues of inequity ensuring the party can further empower and engage communities of color outside of election cycles. I’ve always seen the importance of using my talents to positively impact the world around me. In building a career and reputation around doing exactly that, I have been added to more than I could ever attempt to measure.
