My name is Micah Lucas, and I’m currently in my third year studying Marketing and Financial Planning at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. Reflecting on my journey so far, I’m grateful for the diverse experiences that have shaped my skills and passions. This past summer, I interned at State Farm, where I dove into the world of sales and client servicing. It was more than just a job; it was an opportunity to develop strategies for client retention and claims servicing while also getting trained in Salesforce. This experience taught me the value of understanding client needs and crafting solutions tailored to them.In May, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Cape Town, South Africa, where I served as a Student Consultant and Engagement Manager for a global nonprofit. This role pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to hone my leadership skills while collaborating on marketing and fundraising strategies. The vibrant culture and the meaningful work made a lasting impact on me, reinforcing my commitment to making a difference. My journey hasn’t just been about internships and travel; it’s also been about building community. At 302 Wheaton, my part-time job in a restaurant, I’ve embraced leadership roles that have enhanced my responsibilities and allowed me to foster a strong team dynamic. Similarly, my time at Parkview Community Church as a Camp Counselor and Key Leader taught me the importance of nurturing the next generation of Christ-followers in a close-knit environment. At Ohio State, I’ve had the privilege of leading a small group in the Salt Company, a campus ministry where I connect with students and guide them in their faith journeys. Last year, I stepped into the role of President for Salt Company, bridging our community with Ohio State’s Student Life. It’s been rewarding to see our group thrive and grow, creating a supportive environment for all.Additionally, I serve as President of the Student Financial Planning Association, where I help fellow students learn practical skills beyond the classroom. Under my leadership, the club has tripled in membership, proving that there’s a strong demand for financial education among students. When I’m not studying or working, I love to unwind by playing the guitar and singing. I even lead worship for Salt Company, worshipping in front of 300 people. I also enjoy watching Formula 1 races and staying active through regular workouts. Each of these passions enriches my life and fuels my desire to connect with others in meaningful ways.
