As a person of color who has experienced the legal system from the perspective of the incarcerated while also struggling with mental illness, I understand that advocacy for clients and system change at all levels of legislature is imperative. As such, I have dedicated more than a decade of my life to educating communities and uplifting the voices of those directly affected by mental health into spaces where they are not normally heard but are critically needed. I use hope and humor to bring a new perspective into a system knowing that things can get better, and lives can be saved.You are not alone in this battle for equity and change.

During my time as staff of this affiliate, I designed and implemented their Peer Navigation service, the first professional services program in the organization's history. This program allowed me to negotiate contracts with local health departments, and in one year, expand our operational budget from under $15,000 to $193,000 and open their first brick and mortar offices.

As an artist, I put on three solo gallery shows featuring my digital art and paintings:-Digital Dreams-The Gateway-The VoyageLater I would mix the art and my mental health advocacy and publish "A Peek Inside: Illustrated Journeys in Life With Mental Illness," which led to my invitation to present the work at various venues across the country. Each of these projects included ever-increasing multimedia elements, culminating in two short films: "The Gateway: A Visual Journey" & "A Peek Inside: Food Trays Wait for No One"

Performed requirements analysis, implementation planning, acquisition, installation, testing, implementation and continuing support and maintenance of IT upgrades. These activities encompassed developing testing and implementation strategies with the goal of delivering products and services astransparently as possible and preparing system and operating procedures for the Operations Team and other supporting IT departments. I worked closely with upper management, test groups, and hardware and software vendors to ensure smooth implementations.○ Provided weekly updates to both senior IT management and customers to ensure that all parties are aware of milestone statuses and anticipated rollouts and service interruptions during the course of the projects.○ Developed a standardized environment for hardware and software to guide future purchases and expansion.○ Outside of project planning and implementation, it was also my responsibility to provide Tier III technical support to our service desk for all Macintosh systems in Washington Post Digital as well as Tier II support for the Express customers for Macintosh and PC desktop and application support

While under contract via Apex Systems, I performed the following duties for the Office of the Director:○ Assisted other technicians in troubleshooting Mac issues and providing training. This included traveling to their sites off-campus.○ Mentored entry-level technicians.○ Updated existing and create new standard operating procedures for Mac support issues.○ Created and maintained a standard image for use in Mac systems installs.○ Coded and tested a new utility to automatically bind Mac systems to Active directory.○ Evaluated and tested new software solutions to be used in the field.

While under contract via MIL Contract Services, I performed the following duties for the Congressional Research Service:○ Served as the lead project planner and designer for the implementation of the Remedy Help DeskRequest tracking system.○ Documented current standard operating procedures for the User Support Department management and staff.○ Designed and drafted new standard operating procedures and work flows to be implemented by the User Support Department.○ Administered Windows XP and 2000 desktops.○ Administered Novell eDirectory.○ Coordinated hardware procurement for Citrix/VPN environment testing.○ Researched and designed the processes for implementing network application inventory scans and implemented the new procedures.○ Created and deployed laptop baseline images.

In 2004, I was promoted to a position on the Journal Systems Support team as a Systems Engineer. Duties with this team included but were not limited to:○ Designed a web-based curriculum, in order to train the editorial offices in use of the Paragon Plusmanuscript submission system.○ Provided PC and MAC desktop support services to the remote national as well as international editorial offices.○ Handled all levels of support, including First tier phone calls to Third tier script and applicationdevelopment.○ Traveled to national and international editorial sites to install new equipment and upgrade existingequipment, including operating systems and applications software.○ Tracked and maintained an inventory of all machines used by the support group and its customers.In 2001, I was promoted to the position of Help Desk Analyst to work for the Web Support division. Duties there included but were not limited to:○ Designed and supported the Help Desk Operation intranet web pages. The successful implementation of this project allowed Help Desk staff to access multiple support tools from a centralized location. This resulted in a marked increase in staff productivity and ticket closer rates.○ Worked with the Web Manuscript Submission (WMS) and Paragon electronic manuscript submission systems to resolve authors’ file submission, conversion and accessing problems thus facilitating theirability to submit on-time articles for publication.○ Worked with the editorial offices to resolve technical issues regarding application support issues relating to the WMS and Paragon electronic manuscript submission systems and the EditorialManuscript Tracking System (EMTS)/Peer Review Plus (PR+)○ Worked with Word / WordPerfect, Acrobat and Acrobat Distiller to correct font, graphic and text errors created in the word processing to PDF file conversion process.
