The Whitlock Mills program at The Boys and Girls Club is a performing arts program that exists as a subdivision of The Boys and Girls Club of Hudson County. During the Summer, it is run as a summer camp from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and during the rest of the year, it is an afterschool program, run from 2:00 to 6:30 As the musical theater instructor for this program, I created and executed lesson plans teaching the kids about music, acting, theater, performing arts, and the history of each of those topics. I also assisted other program instructors with their dance, science, and step classes. During the summer program, we took the children on various field trips, and on daily trips to the neighborhood pool. Other Responsibilities included organizing the state mandated breakfast, lunch and snacks for the children and distributing them accordingly, as well as being a bus attendant, picking up children from their schools and taking them to The Boys and Girls Club, and then back home. At the end of the summer program, and at the end of each half of the afterschool program(Winter and Spring), I helped conceptualize, write, and organize a showcase of the performing arts program, in which the children presented the various skills we had taught them in regards to acting, singing and dancing for the rest of the members of The Boys and Girls Club of Hudson.
