Through the partnership between The University of Western Ontario and the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship program, I accepted the opportunity to work 3 months abroad. In those three months, I learned about geotechnical engineering and how it can be used to build disaster-resilient communities.

Employed by the Northern Tornadoes Project as a structural engineering student I researched the effect tornadoes have on barns to better correlate wind speed and damage. Specifically, I created a definitive barn damage category for the Enhanced-Fujita scale (EF scale). This work was in conjunction with Environment and Climate Change Canada, consequentially.
