About Micah Benson
As senior studying data science and English at WashU, I aspire to advance the field of machine learning in ways that will create meaningful change in our world. I currently research applications of neural network models to cancer treatment for WashU Radiation Oncology. In addition to my interest in using deep learning to transform healthcare, I am passionate about developing techniques to increase safety and reduce bias in AI models. I also work part time for the nonprofit Misión de Caridad doing work in data engineering and analysis to support programs to empower migrants on the Mexico side of the US border. This job has honed my data manipulation skills and given me experience exploring complex patterns in data with careful statistical analysis. At WashU, I compete on the varsity cross country and track teams. I am on the executive board of Bear Cubs Running, a student group that provides accessible athletic opportunities to children with autism spectrum disorder and their siblings.
