I led all design activities at Astronomer. I managed and led the design team, owned the design vision of the product, and collaborated on product strategy with the leadership team. Unfortunately, Astronomer was forced to layoff over 140 of its employees in early 2023 and I was caught up in it.

I was the head of design at Splunk across all products and several web properties. I lead and managed a team of designers to provide design/UX direction and company-wide design leadership. I created wireframes, prototyped, and provided visual design for complex product features. Additionally, I organized, coordinated, and conducted user research activities and data analysis. I worked closely with PM and Project Management as well as executives to guide product requirements and future roadmaps.

Sketches, wireframes, and fully interactive UX prototypes built with HTML/CSS/jQuery. Conducted user research and usability studies. Implemented features in shipping product. Built entire CSS skin layer (including skinning framework) for the core Splunk product. Implemented widgets and core functionality such as menus, popups, and overlays. Conducted R&D activities to generate future product features and requirements.

Built and maintained front-end for multiple web properties, including splunk.com, Splunk documentation, Splunk blogs, developer site, and more. HTML/CSS/jQuery/Xaraya/Wordpress

I was responsible for the entire front-end of a rapidly iterating new product for a small startup, both writing production code and doing light design work. I foolishly spurned excellent MVC frameworks like Backbone and Angular, and instead wrote my own in javascript/jquery (I do not recommend this). Additionally, everything was written in HTML5, and Less for CSS rationality. As one of four people in the company, I also contributed greatly to the vision and direction. Unfortunately, the company failed due to life considerations for the founders.

In both a UX design and development role, I worked on projects for a variety of customers from up-and-coming musicians to Bank of America, Microsoft, Lexus, and Hasbro. - UI/UX design from concepts and wireframes/prototypes through full visual design- Full-stack web development using HTML/CSS, Javascript (MooTools, Scriptaculous, jQuery), PHP, ASP, MySql databases- Project and team management using sub-contractors and outsourcing
