About Michael Bainbridge

An authentic, passionate storyteller at heart. I tell creative stories about social justice issues, health, human rights and leadership. I use the power of neural coupling in non linear narrative storytelling to make people care. Showcasing vulnerability, influence change and create engagement for internal and external stakeholders. Over my career I have worked in communications strategy, social media strategy, video creation and producing. I am able to adapt to change quickly and have worked in remote village settings where being able to pivot is a key strength. I have conducted over 1000 interviews and have a strength in drawing an emotional story in a calm and empathetic manner. I have built strong relationships (often interviewing, filming or photographing) with key stakeholders, Prime Ministers, Ministers and Government/Departmental officials within Australia, Solomon Islands and Laos.Previously I ran my own business for 8 years beginning in Melbourne before moving it to Laos. I worked with high profile government and non-government clients including Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, World Health Organization (WHO), VMware Foundation, Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), Australian Volunteers International (AVI), World Bank, GIZ, Anglicord Overseas Aid. This has meant I have been lucky enough to work across South East Asia, The Pacific and South Africa, covering a variety of stories including: International interventions, Neonatal and Maternal Health, HIV, Education, Homelessness. For any upcoming projects that you would like to discuss please contact me at: info@michaelbainbridge.com

Created and ran a bespoke production company that focused on telling stories of government, non-government organisations, not for profits and foundations. Opening in Melbourne in 2011, I re-located the company to Vientiane, Laos in 2013 before returning to Melbourne in 2017. It was essential that I built relationships with key stakeholders and production partners. A selection of the larger clients and ongoing productions included: World Health Organisation, VMware Foundation, GIZ, World Bank, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Digital Monkey Laos, Australian Volunteers International. While capturing both photography and video I investigate the stories of everyday people and places, looking to capture unique and honest moments. I like to experiment with various techniques and styles often switching between the still image, multimedia and video production. An expert in DSLR film making and final cut pro editing.
