Development lead of a digital platform for marine biosecurity under DHI’s performance contract with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, where the overarching theme was new technological services that are ahead of market demand.

Bawat is a Danish SME that delivers a unique solution for ballast water treatment on merchant vessels. During 3+ years with Bawat we developed and matured the company from being a start-up with a good idea and proof-of-concept to a company with innovative products and a reference list. Directly involved in strategic decision processes with executive management and reporting to the Board of Directors. Main responsibilities included product development, system design and type approval certification. Leading a small group of engineers and naval architects responsible for delivering customized product configurations to clients, which also involved stakeholder management for design and installation of test systems. The position also included management of project plan and deliverables for an EU Horizon 2020 Innovation Grant supporting the development and approval of the company’s product.

Project management of numerous contracts for performance evaluation of ballast water treatment systems according to international rules and standards. Responsible for the project portfolio at the DHI Maritime Technology Evaluation Facility, offering testing and evaluation services to original equipment manufacturers. Commercially available test facility services for clients throughout their product development and certification process. Management tasks included planning and follow up with clients, business development, staffing, investments, standard operating procedures, quality control etc. Project management and consultancy work within the area of environmental risk assessment of hazardous substances such as evaluations of therapeutants in aquaculture, active substances in plant protection products, discharge of arsenic contaminated groundwater, quality criteria for alkyl bromide and tertiary amines in contaminated soil, potential impacts of nanomaterials.
