I specialize in epidemiology and biostatistics in the areas of pharmaceutical, occupational, and environmental health research, with extensive experience in the design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of epidemiologic studies. My current responsibilities involve the application of epidemiologic research for drug development, safety and efficacy evaluation. My research has included studies of cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory and neurological diseases, injury/musculoskeletal conditions, and numerous occupational and environmental exposures. These studies are published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics where I teach pharmacoepidemiology; I was previously an Adjunct Professor at the UCLA School of Public Health where I taught courses in occupational and environmental health. I am fluent in Spanish and have international public health experience through consulting, research projects, and volunteer work in Latin America.
