About Michael Sinclair
"Leave it better than you found it." This motto was instilled in me at a young age and I keep it with me in everything I do. I am a police supervisor for the City of Newport News with fourteen years of experience in law enforcement. As a Lieutenant, I have the awesome responsibility of shaping the careers of the officers under my command. I believe the best leaders are successful by being fair and impartial to all coworkers and allow people a voice while remaining transparent in decision making. I try to encourage my officers to take up my motto for themselves and always strive for improving; whether its themselves, the department or public policy.I enjoy taking on new challenges and sharing my experience with others. In addition to my regular responsibilities, I serve as the Deputy Commander for our Tactical Operations Unit and Command the Crisis Negotiation Team. I also teach regularly at our police academy and in-service training. As a trainer, I hope to help develop the next generation of outstanding police officers and prepare them for a long and successful career.
