Serves as the Director of the Newport News Police Training Academy. Leadership and Management duties and responsibilities for the training division. Responsible for the planning and development of academy curriculum and operations. Ensures the Academy complies with all state laws and regulations mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.Responsible for the compliance of all training programs with all regulations set forth by the Virginia Criminal Justice Board and the Department of Criminal Justice Services.Identifies and Evaluates testing procedures and testing instruments of the Academy.Responsible for the Academy during emergencies involving training programs.Drafts Training bulletins, roll call training and written directives.Monitors legal compliance with local, state and federal legislation.Serves as the CALEA Accreditation Manager for the Newport News Police Training Academy.Conducts administrative investigations as assigned.Performs duties of a sworn police officer when necessaryProvides instruction within the Academy and DepartmentDistributes and coordinates course announcements to internal and external parties.

Supervision of Police Officers in law enforcement and community programs. Experience on Midnight Shift and Evening shift as well as Deputy Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Team.

Investigate crimes involving children as victims as well as crimes of sexual assault. Participate in community awareness programs.

Investigated crimes involving theft, intimidation and fraud. Worked closely with Bank Investigators, Loss Prevention Specialists, pawn shop owners and state and federal agencies to solve local crimes as well as regional trends.

Responded to calls for service and patrolled the central precinct of Newport News. Certified for bicycle patrol operations and assisted with many city sponsored events.

Direct and coordinate training for all employees within the Newport News Police Department, and any client agency, to assure the training complies with Academy policy and procedures, and any related DCJS Standard.

Designed and implemented practice plans, coached team roster of 40 swimmers, seeded entries for meets, held conference meetings with parents and swimmers and wrote college recommendation letters.
