Initially joined CBA as Vice President, Institutional Banking to assess the commercial viability to establish a private equity unit for the Bank and then assessed a number of Indonesian banks as potential joint venture partners for CBA. i was promoted as Head of Primary Equities, seeking IPO and placement opportunities for Comsec and sourced franking credit opportunities for the Structured Equities unit of the Bank.

Ex colleagues from my Bain & Co days invited me to join the International Equities team at Merrill Lynch in February1992 offering international shares and funds management services to corporate superfunds in Australia and family offices.

I joined Standard Chartered as Head of cross border M&A and ECM opportunities in Sydney. During this period, I was involved in a number of IPO and secondary listings on the HKSE and Singapore for corporations such as National Mutual and Burwill Holdings.

I joined CIBC Wood Gundy soon after the 1987 stock market crash and took over as Head of the Sydney Office when the former Head of Corporate Finance departed. During my time, we were involved the advising QBE on the proposed acquisition of Burns Philp Trustees, acted as an Expert Witness for Warrick Fairfax on the failed Fairfax takeover and underwrote many film 10BA films, acted for Interwest Hotels for their US acquisitions and participated in the Cascade IPO. Head Office decided to close its Australian operations after substantial loan write offs such as Harlin and the Goldberg group of companies (Linter).

I entered in the investment banking industry when I joined Bain & Company as an executive in the Corporate Finance team in Sydney. During my time there, I was involved as an adviser for the Christmas Island Casino and the Kingsgate and Hotelcorp floats.
