Supervises staff and resources in the timely provision of quality pharmaceutical care and services to all patients and staff within the American Hospital, Dubai system during the Department hours of operation in accordance with defined departmental standards. • Keeps the Director of Pharmacy apprised of all departmental operations.• Preparation and supervising of preparation of extemporaneously compounded medications, IV fluids, TPN and IV antibiotics.• Maintaining of adequate stock levels and assisting in budget and inventory control• Assists inventory clerk in cost effective purchasing of medications • Liaising with physicians and heads of departments • Supervising application of policies and procedures as per JCIA (Joint Commission for International Accreditation) requirements.• Lectures to nursing including monthly orientation.• Member of various committees including Drug Research and Ethics Committee, Infection Control Committee and Antibiotic Monitoring Committee• Coordinates and reviews monthly scheduling of staff to maintain services• Supervises the inpatient and outpatient dispensing activities via coordinated efforts with the staff Pharmacists, Technicians and other support staff• Reviews physician’s orders and prescription to ensure appropriateness of drug therapy.
