I am an engineer specializing in heat transfer and fluid flow analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. I have extensive project experience in thermal management simulations and analysis of a range of consumer and industrial electronics devices, including wireless earbuds, augmented and virtual reality devices, battery packs for mobility applications, communications devices, and other home electronics. At Exponent, I have evaluated energy savings of roofing products, simulated wind conditions in the Grand Canyon, determined heat loss in a buried oil pipeline system, modeled the transport and odor reduction of a scented plug-in diffuser, and calculated the temperatures of gas pipeline components exposed to fire.Prior to joining Exponent, I was a PhD candidate in the Nuclear Science and Engineering Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I developed a novel CFD uncertainty quantification technique for usage in nuclear reactor safety analysis and licensing. During this process I utilized statistical data analysis, numerical techniques, and physical fluid dynamics modeling to determine the accuracy of CFD for a wide variety of flow conditions. I also studied the usage of advanced CFD turbulence models for the prediction of thermal stresses and complex fluid mixing in sodium cooled nuclear reactor designs and developed an analysis technique for use by the nuclear industry.
