I worked in the Equipment Cage of the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University. The cage loans filmmaking equipment to students & faculty so they can make films. When the cage received an order, I gathered what equipment was required & ensured all items in the various cases were accounted for & functioned properly. Once I certified that all the equipment was in working order, I loaded it onto one of the large carts and waited for the student or professor to pick up. When the cases were returned, I checked that all the pieces were returned in the condition that they were released. Once I had confirmed that the cases were in order, I put them back on their proper shelves to keep the cage clean and organized. The cage held gear from all areas of filmmaking such as cameras, microphones, sound recorders, and lights. Each of the cases contained a myriad or chords, plugs & other attachments that needed to be kept track of. This job required immense attention to detail in order to ensure the different types of filmmaking equipment were properly taken care of & organized.

For three years and a summer, I excelled at many different positions at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. I learned to balance work and school as he worked part-time and pursued my bachelor’s degree in Cinema. Each of the positions I held taught me different skills. Hosting taught me how to represent the restaurant. I was the first face the guests saw when they arrived and the first person they spoke to when they called to make a reservation. As a host, I also helped to organize and control the pace and flow of the restaurant to ensure that it ran smoothly. Takeout, food running, and serving all taught me how to effectively manage my time, work efficiently, multi-task, and handle high-stress situations with an unwavering optimistic frame of mind.
