Mr. Akavan has been a LEED Accredited Professional for over 10 years, and used to be on the Board of Directors for the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), Downtown San Diego Partnership, and a part of the Palomar College President's Associates. Additionally, he is a member of the following organizations: American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), California Society for Healthcare Engineers (CSHE), and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
