I manage IRCC's senior technical web team. We handle complex coding projects for our internal and external websites, provide data analytics to improve user experience, and drive innovation in how we deliver web projects.My role is to:- Guide the team in tackling challenging technical problems- Ensure our work aligns with key department goals- Set strategic direction for web technologies and practices- Maintain project momentum through clear expectations and regular check-ins- Evaluate and improve our processes to stay efficient and effectiveI help the team see the big picture impact of our work. That said, I am not a coder myself, which I love. I've taken on a temporary position to directly advise the Director of the Web team at IRCC. This short assignment involves coordinating directorate level responses, drafting and delivering reports and presentations to represent the Web team and it's work, advising on and seeking consensus on human resources requirements and talent management, and facilitating the assistant director level working group.

My responsibilities include designing, writing, editing, and managing web content for a number of the departments programs. This work involves working with many different teams across the department to understand their goals and requirements, create and implement effective web strategies, and report on the results. As part of the normal duties of my position, I regularly make recommendations to, coordinate with and brief stakeholders at all levels of the department.My areas of responsibility shift periodically but I have experience with: Settlement and Integration, Refugees and Asylum, Contact Us (including the IRCC Web Form), Start-up Visa Program, Immigrant Investment Venture Capital Pilot Program, Study Immigration programs, Family Class Immigration, the Passport Program, Temporary Foreign Workers, Employers (including Employer compliance), Caregivers Programs, and Permanent Resident Cards. I have experience managing my team. As part of a shift in resources at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the opportunity to take on the manager position full-time for 5 weeks. This was a great experience. I learned a lot about the value of team buy-in, the importance of earning the respect of the people who rely on you for direction, and the importance of mental health and well-being in the workplace. I have also had great opportunities to analyze existing team processes and create new ones; design, develop, and iterate on online applications and other public facing tools (content and user experience); host team-wide knowledge sharing sessions and collaborate with other governmental departments.

I manage 1 of 3 teams of Web Advisors for at IRCC. My team is responsible for all of the web content for our permanent residence programs, including our refugee and asylum programs and the Express Entry system. I support my team as they engage with our internal clients and I ensure that their work meets Government of Canada web standards.

Responsibilities included: Providing strategic communications advice and recommendations on a day-to-day basis to all clients in the four corporate affairs directorates: Communications, Corporate Governance and Accountability, Corporate Secretariat, and Recourse. •Developing and revising products to support the communications requirements of the Branch and its directorates, including: messages to staff, social media content, Web content, intranet content, video scripts, media lines, and work plans.•Provided support to management on the development of the Corporate Affairs Branch communications plan. Programs Communications Worked with the traveller stream of the Programs Branch as part of the Program Communications Unit. Experience with a variety of products and responsibilities including:•Lead Communications Advisor for the following program files: Telephone Reporting, Reporting “I declare”, Travel Tips, Advance Passenger Information / Passenger Name Record (API/PNR), Transporter Obligations, Information Sharing, Transit without Visa, Safe Third Country, and Temporary Resident Visa•Took on a significant role in implementing Treasury Board Secretariat Web Renewal standards for Traveller program Web content. •Supported communications projects for other major files such as NEXUS, CANPASS, Detector Dog Services, Interactive Advanced Passenger Information, Automated Border Clearance Kiosks, Private Boaters, and Electronic Travel Authorization.

My responsibilities included the creation of daily media summaries in the morning and continuous media monitoring throughout the day. I am also available to produce a variety of media reports as they are required. These reports include: Media Analyses, Media Scans and Media Snapshots for social, print, and online media sources. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Public Safety's portfolio partners, such as CBSA and CSC, with an aim at tailoring Public Safety's portfolio media monitoring products to the needs of our partners. I have also had the opportunity to work with the Media Relations team, where I have handled a number of Public Enquiries as needed.

My responsibilities at Public Safety included drafting a daily media summary as part of a team. Directors and other Department staff send requests for Media reports on general or specific subjects often with tight deadlines.
