In my role at 180 Degrees, I advanced my knowledge and ability in the hospitality industry. I received barista training alongside cellar management, mixology, and golf course operations training. During my time at 180 Degrees, I was able to work at large events, such as weddings, band nights, and birthday celebrations. Doing so allowed me to gain insight into the planning and execution of large events and the coordination required.

As a member of the politics society committee I contribute to the planning and execution of society wide events, such as the Christmas Ball and Spring Soiree. I also manage and coordinate a football team of over 70 active members. My role includes the recruitment of new members, organisation of teams and leagues, negotiation of sponsorship deals, and ordering new kits. Working alongside my studies has enabled me to develop my time management and organisation to efficiently use my time. Also, effectively delegating to a small team of vice captains that work alongside me.

In my role at The Eight Bells, I advanced my knowledge and experience of the hospitality industry. While working at The Eight Bells, I built confidence in conversing and serving customers. I also developed skills relating to time management when judging ordering speed and managing the flow of customers in the restaurant.

I progressed from a food runner to senior front of house, primarily working on the bar and coordinating front of house service. I developed my organisation and time management skills alongside my knowledge of the hospitality industry to execute a smooth and high quality food service at a popular country pub.Working through Covid-19 the teams dedication increased customer retention and acquisition despite the challenges presented by the pandemic and the time-pressured conditions we were under.

During my Lower Sixth year of school, I co-led a team of 16 students running a business for a year. We designed and manufactured children’s toys made from material destined for landfill, alongside an accompanying book teaching about the importance of recycling. The company won multiple awards for a variety of categories including business plan, sustainability, and sales.
