Working as a production assistant at Jonathan Dunn Media Productions In Cardiff has developed my media production skills to a highly professional standard. I’ve been trained to use the Adobe creative suite including Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects and InDesign. I’ve also been trained to use Final Cut Pro and Avid Newscutter. We’ve worked on a variety of projects across the UK and I’ve trained in all elements of production. I worked as camera operator and sound assistant whilst filming the behind the scenes for a film in Birmingham called ‘The Call up’. I’ve edited the sound and video into a rough cut for five independent documentaries in Cardiff. I filmed GV’s and interviews for a Documentary about the Church in Wales and edited the interviews in post-production. I also worked as a sound technician and camera assistant whilst filming an interview for a Documentary about sleep paralysis called ‘The Nightmare’ for an American director Rodney Ascher. In all of these projects used a variety of cameras including the Canon 650D, 700D and 750D as well as the Sony NX3 and NX30. I’ve can also record using a flash mic, radio mic, Marantz and a boom mic.

In my time at ITV Wales I worked as a researcher and production journalist. I worked on the current affairs output researching stories and then organising interviews. I also organised filming on location, liaised with council members and Welsh Assembly members and developed ideas further with the series producer and director. I worked on the social media channels for the political output. I created videos on Avid adding subtitles, and then sharing them on Facebook. I also used Avid to take stills from interviews and creative quotes to share on Twitter to promote the different political programmes. Processing, checking and ordering the results, then preparing them to be sent back to the students and examiners. organising the examination data through Excel and created a bank of assessment files. I worked in communications through the role taking messages for colleagues. Contacting other members of staff to arrange meetings, examination preparations and requests by colleagues. Organising the files and assessment material for all the different medical school years and arranged an easily accessible filing system.I worked on practical examinations helping to deliver files to examiners and guide students to the right locations.
