SEE UPLOADED DOCUMENT: My award-winning interstitial creative non-fiction literary work, "Brave New World Order," will soon be published in its entirety, fully illustrated by artist David Allen Reed. You may sample two chapters from the work at these links: https://issuu.com/howlingdogpress/docs/chapter8postefinal , and https://issuu.com/howlingdogpress/docs/chapter6posterfinal .In addition to being a publisher, editor, and designer, as [foremost] a poet and author I have written a significant body of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, Hinge, and am currently at work on a nearly-completed screenplay, “10,000 Jewels in the Sky.” I produce literature on a daily basis that is published both online and in print-volume magazines and anthologies. My projects-in-process of my own literature include two novella-length works of fiction, “Messenger of the Covenant,” and “The Autobiography of Psychic Anarchy,” a collection of interrelated short stories, “Lifestyles of the Poor & Anonymous,” and a fully illustrated graphic novel, “The cHa(u)nt of Human Dying,” of which Part II-iii was made into a video by Cesar Naves. Last, and possibly most important, a collection of my own poetry and Hinges*, “Howling at the End of the Wor[l]ds,” is to be published in a minimum of three successive volumes over the course of the next two years by NightWing Publishers, Seattle. I have several collaborative projects being produced in Europe: “the Empty Set,” a performance poetry/music CD in development with Sonologyst, an Italian composer; “Fear&Desire,” a video with Swoon, a Dutch filmmaker; and work being translated into Arabic, Berber, French, German, Italian, Romanian, and Spanish, some of which are integral to my performance piece, “from psyche, this labi’a’(star)te,” I perform various selections of my own poetry, including commentary on national affairs, on radio. All the foregoing constitute my full time, “life’s work” investment in the literary/performance arts.
  • Michael Annis' Ghost Ship Rats
    Executive Artistic Director
Michael Annis' Ghost Ship Rats Jan 2018 - Present
I founded my Ghost Ship Rats to expand the potential boundaries of Performance Literature. The GSR, all professional musicians in diverse genres, currently consist of Philo Sudberry on metal guitar, Katarina M. Pliego on cello, Dani Harrison on electric bass, and Tom Tilton on percussion & drums. Likewise, I also collaborate the artistic skills of guests vocalist performers who work directly with me on bringing my printed--often award winning--manuscripts to life on stage. The GSR is not a slam-performance group [although I respect and admire great slam artistry], rather a consummately skilled group of musical professionals dedicated to the advancement of the boundaries, ergo, the understanding of Literature-in-Revolution. The "ghost ship," as metaphor, is the ever elusive, often transparent, superstition-oriented, entity called "AMERIKA*." As poets, musicians, and artists, we inhabit this vessel as its mutineers. Our most recent headliner performance was at the 30th Annual Colorado Poetry Rodeo [April 14, 2018] at the Mercury Cafe, Denver, where my poetic meditation, "Wolves at the Mall," was musically arranged into three Cantos/movements totaling 27 minutes. Besides myself, "Wolves" featured the vocal work of performance artist Roseanna Frechette.*"Make Amerika Great Again" is an interesting sales pitch, yet a deceptive conflation of values (as if attempting to ascribe greatness to a nation as one might to an NFL football team contingent upon its win/loss records), for its period/s of greatness have not been defined, while disinformative political jargon imprisons it there. If we could actually pull its mythos from the ether where it floats elusive and resistant to definitions, and most certainly opinions of substance, we might once again resurrect its "greatness."

FOR A [nearly] FULL DESCRIPTION OF MY ENDEAVORS, see the uploaded document preceding this description.Besides the many single author/single poet books that I have edited, designed and produced through Howling Dog Press, I also publish anthologies [“Stiletto One: A Ship of Fools”; "Stiletto2: the Disinherited," "Cost of Freedom:The Anthology of Peace & Activism," "OMEGA" including #7 "fromHivethisMind," and forthcoming, #8 "ClanBetweentheWorlds"], videos, and spoken word/music collaborations on CD.In 2003, I launched the OMEGA Online Literary Magazine series. I invite you to follow this link to "OMEGA7:fromHive thisMind," a 250-page anthology that I created in 2009 : http://issuu.com/howlingdogpress/docs/omega7fromhivethismind . It features the work of 44 writers, myself included, and a very brilliant artist, Henry Avignon. In addition to my editorial remarks scattered throughout, my own section of writing begins on page 220 and runs thru page 233--my Hinge piece from which the subtitle of the anthology is derived, "fromHive thisMind," begins on page 221 and ends on page 225; I hope you find it to be an enticing, visual testament to progressive expansion of literary style and form. "OMEGA7:fromHive thisMind" is best viewed on a laptop or desktop system [I'm not certain if you will be able to view this anthology with an ipad or android device. I've tried several times and although it is recognized as existing, for some reason the file itself will not load--perhaps too large, I don't know.] In the near future, I will be taking both literary and visual art submissions for the next installment, “OMEGA8: ClanBetweentheWorlds.” If you are interested in submitting work, you may do so at writingdangerously@howlingdogpress.com
  • 100,000 Poets For Change
    Denver Metro Area Coordinator & Producer, 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016
100,000 Poets For Change Aug 2013 - Present
As the greater Denver metro area coordinator for 100,000 Poets for Change in 2013, 2014, 2015, and again this year, 2016, I will be producing a series of events in September involving progressive poets, musicians, visual artists, singers, operatic actors/actresses and other performers. The Denver event will include three aligned groups: 1. Howling Dog Press/Brave New World Order Books, 2. Rebuilding Identity, an organization engineered to disseminate world peace through new ideas, ideals, and proven strategies, based in political and social disciplines; 3. Rebuilding Identity Cultural Initiative, an organization designed to impart revolutionary force in the disciplines of poetry, art, music, theater, and other cultural actions. Rebuilding Identity Cultural Initiative, which I founded in 2013, seeks worldwide transformation of identity through innovative usages of language, whether in linguistics, poetry, visual art, or etc. As "change" is a nebulous term at best, cultural and socio/political manifestos are being written to describe EXACTLY what authentic human change might mean and involve and how this change might be brought about individual by individual on a worldwide scale. Contact me at michael@howlingdogpress.com if you are interested in participating and we can dialogue about what you might be "bringing to the table" to further these initiatives.
