As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant England and Wales, who has worked in both practice and industry, with extensive experience in construction, housebuilding and the leisure industry, my greatest success was helping the Partyman Group grow into a 460 employee 12 site organisation, with 9 play centres, 7 nurseries, 2 farm parks, Rossi Ice Cream Company and a Teddy Bear importing company before I left. Other career highlights include growing a department at Linden homes from zero to £40m turnover in just over 2 years, obtaining nearly half a million pounds of R&D tax creditors for a £25m turnover construction company I was finance director for, helping in the purchase of Rossi Ice Cream, obtaining many millions in loans, asset finance and other forms of finance. I have held many board level position for medium size business in the East of England and more specifically Essex and am an experienced finance director. Self improvement and challenges are two prospects that really excite me and whether its climbing Snowdonia, Mount Fuji or Kilimanjaro, learning Italian (although I must admit I have forgot a lot of this now!) running, playing football or tennis, driving around Silverstone, visiting Japan, South Africa, Morocco, Tanzania, Thailand, America or most of Europe I love inspirational adventures.Due to my qualifications and successes in work I have had the privilege to work with many amazing people and have extensive contacts in Essex and London in pretty much every field you can think of from rocket scientists, to rock stars, top athletes and quite a few top entrepreneurs. By changing both… Show more After the successful share issue of the parent plc to aggressively expand the groups house building division, my job has been to create the accounting systems and provide the necessary support to implement the expansion of one of the larger house building divisions. This includes using my advanced excel skill, knowledge of taxation and experience of growing businesses to create specialised combined management accounts packs, databases and key performance indicator summaries. By changing both the eight figure bank facilities, that I monitor and manage, and computer programme, combined with the new systems mentioned above the division has the necessary accounting structure in place to grow from an operation selling a couple dozen properties per year on two sites to one that is selling over many times that over several sites and has the accounting capacity to sell several hundred properties per year over dozens of sites. Due to the importance of the new division I report mainly to the finance director, explain all aspects from cash flows to sales figure to aid the senior management in their understanding of this fast changing division and aiding their reports to group. I attend weekly sales meetings with the managing director, sales director and finance director as well as monthly meetings with the operations director, sales director and senior commercial manager.In addition to this I prepare management accounts for three ledgers as well as combined management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, maintain three ledgers, prepare year end accounts, prepare audit packs as well as assisting with the audit, review vat returns, review bank reconciliations and adapt the accounting systems as necessary.Although not part of my job, I have provided tax advice that saved £250,000 for the year ending 30th June 2011, will probably over £250,000 for this and probaly over £125,000 next year in corporation tax.
