Mr. Appleby was primarily responsible for Kayne Anderson Real Estate Advisors’ self-storage platform. In his more than 30 years of experience in the self-storage sector he has been involved with the development of more than 100 self-storage properties.Prior to joining Kayne Anderson in 2013, Mr. Appleby was most recently employed by Public Storage where his responsibilities included new development and acquisitions. Prior to that Mr. Appleby served as Chief Operating Officer of StorageWorld, L.P., a partnership with Boston based AEW Capital Management operated under the trade name Storage Spot. In addition to management of the partnership’s development, acquisition and construction activities, Mr. Appleby’s responsibilities included oversight of the day-to-day property operations of 26 properties that included approximately 14,000 units totaling 1.75 million square feet of storage and retail space. Mr. Appleby was actively involved in and responsible for the portfolio’s sale to Extra Space Realty (NYSE:EXR) in 2005.Mr. Appleby holds a BS degree in engineering technology from Temple University.
