As an Assistant Professor, my responsibilities include teaching lectures in Sociology and Social Justice, evaluating students on their understanding of course material, and advise students on academic and career matters. I also maintain appropriate attendance, scholastic, and student records. I am also responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating curriculum, ensuring it is up-to-date with current trends and I participate in campus and college governance by serving on committees.

As department chair, I am responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of adjunct faculty, scheduling classes and ordering the appropriate textbooks, and assessment and revision of course learning outcomes, program management and evaluation, and completion of program reporting.

As a Black/African American Studies curriculum development consultant, I worked alongside faculty to co-author a new Black Studies Course, followed the appropriate curriculum process, responded to revision suggestions per curriculum reviewer feedback, represented the course during curriculum meetings, and ensure the course met all requirements to be granted final approval by the college’s curriculum committee and Board of Trustees.

As an adjunct professor at MiraCosta College, I taught statistics for the behavioral sciences, introduction to sociology, contemporary social problems, social psychology, sociology/psychology of the family, and research methods. I created and updated PowerPoint presentations, prepared classroom lectures, and developed in-class activities to facilitate the learning of material among students, both individually and collectively. I held office hours to encourage students to ask questions about the course or education in general. I assessed student learning outcomes through in-class assignments, homework assignments, written assignments, in-class activities, exams, and research papers. I also served as an advisor to the undocumented student club, UPRISE, and as an UndocuAlly trainer to educate faculty and staff on how to support our undocumented community.

As an ethnic studies program consultant, I worked closely with a high school teacher to develop and deploy an ethnic studies course at the high school level. I identified and introduced ethnic studies resources to implement into the course, I joined the teacher during class sessions to facilitate discussions, and I collaborated with the teacher to create lesson plans for future class sessions.

As an adjunct professor at Palomar College, I taught statistics for the behavioral sciences and introduction to sociology. I was also a member of the Palomar Black Faculty and Staff Association (PBFSA) and have been selected to serve on the 2021 Presidential Search Hiring Committee as an adjunct faculty representative.

As Data Research Coordinator, in addition to duties as the Data Research Assistant, I communicated with various school district partners, Palomar College, and grant-funded program (GEAR UP) site staff to coordinate secure data collection, validated data and used data to gauge efficacy of GEAR UP by measuring student performance against grant program objectives. I also worked closely with GEAR UP management to submit the Annual Performance Report to the Department of Education, using grant objective measures to describe and detail GEAR UP's efforts.

Performed descriptive statistical analysis of the academic performance of students belonging to a grant-funded program (GEAR UP), wrote reports on analyses to be presented and/or provided to staff members, and consulted program site coordinators to provide breakdown of data and assist in development of plans to improve programming.
