To provide management of Datacentres across the UK, encompassing technical teams and junior managers, taking responsibility for all aspects of Data Centre infrastructure provision.

Supervise Operational teams comprising of a Network Support Team, an HP Openview Support Team, Data Centre Implementations Team and a Change Management Team

• Lead a technical and operational team of 13 to support customers hosted in the Birstall Data Centre.• Ensure the skills of the team meet the needs of the technologies used within the Data Centre, updating a skills matrix and arranging training where required.• Encourage the team to follow processes and procedures based on ITIL, to ensure the service level demand is met affectively, and develop the processes and procedures as the business requirements changes. These include incident management and change management.• Responsible for the team’s absence, leave and recruitment as the team expands.• Ensure that incidents are properly investigated and where possible the root causes of failure are resolved.• Generation of weekly/monthly KPI reports for management reviews and provide explanations for the figures when presented within the local management team meetings.• Provide support on Windows/Linux/VMWare based operating systems and environments and Cisco devices where required by the team.• Participate in 24/7 on-call support, being flexibly to work any time.• Ensure operational tasks are completed successfully. Updates and backups are carried out regularly and recorded accurately.

• Configuration and administration of Windows NT4, 2000, 2003 web based hosting servers and applications including IIS, SQL2000, Active Directory, Microsoft cluster, load balanced web servers via CISCO local director, ensuring maximum availability of hosted web sites, 24/7. Update and patch deployment management.• Provide leadership and support to new support team members• Planning, implementation and manage of server backups using Backup Exec as part of hosting solutions to ensure safe data/server recovery for DR• Maintain the internet infrastructure, comprising of Cisco firewalls, switches and routers to maximize network performance, security and availability.• Set up and support internet connections via PSTN, ISDN, xDSL or direct connection. • Support Linux Red Hat services, POP3 and SMTP mail, domain name registration, DNS hosting, and HTTP proxy.• Provide web based statistical data for hosted web sites using LiveStats for customers to evaluate their web site design and performance.

For my first year at CSC, based at Brough, East Yorkshire, was as a Desktop Support Engineer, supporting Windows 3.51 and NT4 desktops and Office applications. From this role I moved into a Unix Server support role and carried out basic server admin including backups.In addition to these roles, I also undertook LAN support, involving LAN Hubs and Switches, installation and configuration.

• Countrywide installation and on site training of PC based Call Management, Voicemail Software and computer hardware.• Manage junior staff’s workload and technical knowledge.• Assembly of PC hardware and installation of Win 3.11 and Win 95.• Supply technical support to customers on Call Management, Voicemail Software via telephone help desk.

• Design and manufacture of software controlled special to type test equipment using HP Basic in support of new project activity.• System test and evaluation under laboratory and field conditions to ISO9000 standards.• Design of digital and analogue circuits to component level to BS 5750 standard. Formal test and evaluation of equipment including environment testing using a range of test equipment.• Project management techniques including PERT, time scale, milestones and budgeting. Mechanical manufacturing including milling and turning. Purchasing, planning, drawing office, logistical support, workshops, quality assurance and documentation procedures.

• Low volume manufacture of line replacement units and printed circuit board equipment.• Modification at component level of professional video editing equipment
