In 2015, I started working part-time as a Transit Driver at CyRide while working on my degree at Iowa State University. After just over a year working as a driver, I applied for a highly competitive role as Transit Dispatcher and was ecstatic when CyRide offered me the position. During my five years as a Dispatcher, I have taken on various supervisory roles, developed countless employee relationships, and spearheaded numerous policy changes. In 2020, I developed a supplemental scheduling system to work with our current scheduling system which helped save thousands annually on overtime costs and was awarded with the Suggestion Award through the City of Ames.During my time at CyRide, I worked overtime each week by filling many uncovered driving shifts at CyRide while still enrolled full time at Iowa State. In 2020, I received my Bachelor's degree in Management with emphasis on Organizational Leadership through Iowa State University.In June of 2022, I accepted a promotion to Transit Trainer at CyRide. In this role, I’m responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training candidates that align with CyRide’s four priorities: Safety, Teamwork, Value-added service, and schedule. I’m also responsible for providing FMCSA-mandated Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for Class B CDL’s and Passenger endorsements. In short, I train candidates with no experience how to safely and effectively operate 40’ buses and also how to obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger and Airbrake. I also provide additional training to tenured employees on how to drive 60’ Nova Articulated buses along with other supplemental trainings.
